STEAM ACCUMULATORS

The steam accumulator ensures the supply of steam to the consumption when the demand is greater than the steam production capacity of the steam boiler at that time.

So it is a steel pressure vessel, insulated, which contains water and steam under pressure. The vessel is approximately half-filled with cold water, while steam is drawn from the steam boiler through a "steam burner" at the bottom of the vessel.

It is used as an energy storage container especially in industries that have steep steam demands (peak steam-demands).

The steam accumulator (as a steam generating device) belongs to the category of steam boilers and is therefore calculated based on the European standard ΕΝ 12953
